Omphalos. Does the navel of the earth truly exist?
The Uluru rock, known as the navel of the earth, is located in the red desert at the very center of the Australian continent. Uluru, a rock so massive that it appears as a mountain, stands alone in the middle of the desert. The rock, which is broken into 36 pieces, can sometimes resemble a human head. Viewed from the sky, it unmistakably looks like a navel. The rock, which is said to have formed 900 million years ago, stands about 348 meters high and has a circumference of about 9.4 km. With 6000 meters of its bulk buried underground, it's closer to a mountain than a rock. Uluru means "the place where shadows pass," and it has small caves formed by extensive weathering, which contain traces of ancient murals.
Though some may say that no matter how mysterious or miraculous something may be, it is still just an event happening within the universe, I still find the navel of the earth, Uluru, fascinating. Perhaps it's because I might have originated from that very navel. Since I haven't seen Uluru in person, I drew it from imagination. The navel shape of the Uluru rock as I imagined it is sometimes square, sometimes round, and sometimes triangular. That navel is the beginning of everything and also the place where everything ultimately returns.
